Dixie Lee Bryant Scrapbook

This scrapbook, created by Dixie Lee Bryant between 1892 and 1938, documents Bryant’s experience as a student at the State Normal and Industrial School (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), as well as her life after graduation. The scrapbook is annotated throughout and consists chiefly of photographs taken between 1892 and 1896. The scrapbook contains identified class photographs from 1893, 1894, 1895, and 1896; early photographs of the campus; a photograph of Teague Dormitory/House and its interior; identified photographs of classroom interiors; photographs of the “county fair” on campus; and duplicate photographs of African-American children that also appear in the Gove Collection. A gym photograph also appears, with conflicting identification information.
