May Shearer Scrapbook, 1919 – 1923

This scrapbook, created by May Shearer between 1919 and 1923, documents Shearer’s experience at Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook is annotated in white ink throughout and includes ephemera from the Junior-Freshman wedding, clippings of notes and sayings, programs for movies, a John Philip Sousa Concert, and a performance by Anna Pavlova; and materials related to the Dikean literary society, including song lyrics for the society song, programs, and ephemera. The scrapbook also includes articles about the Home Management House (Practice Home) at 320 McIver Street, a 1921 Field Day program, a YWCA ribbon, commencement ephemera, addresses and quotes from classmates, and various school materials, including a French exam and a chemistry experiment.
