Margaret ‘Alice’ Bennett Mauney Scrapbook, 1956-1960

This scrapbook, created by Margaret Alice Bennett Mauney between 1956 and 1960, documents Mauney’s student experience at Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook contains a 1956 “Here’s How” Freshman handbook, a 1956 Inter-Faith Council program, a handout on “Instructions for curtain rods in dorms,” a Home Economics Department brochure, photographs of dorm interiors, ephemera from the installation of William Friday, gym suit and blazer receipts, Belk photo studio ephemera, paper rat ears and rules for Rat Day, calendars of campus events, Spanish Club ephemera, Baptist Student Union newsletters (“The Pyxie”), an “Honor” brochure, a Physical Education program for “The Day” in 1957, Dolphin-Seal programs for 1957 and 1958, a 4-H dress review program, a 1950s library guide, a Stone Building dedication program, a student ID card, and newspaper articles on the debate for Woman’s College to become co-ed.
