Helen E. McBee Scrapbook, 1924 – 1939

Helen E. McBee was a student at the North Carolina College for Women (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), graduating in 1929 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. While attending the college, McBee was a member of the Cornelian Society, the Spanish Club, and Honor Roll. This scrapbook documents McBee’s experience as a student and consists of materials dating from 1924 to 1939. The scrapbook was designed and illustrated by Elizabeth Colborne and published by The Reilly and Lee Company of Chicago. It contains a Freshman Spanish exam, a newspaper clipping on Charles Lindberg’s visit to Greensboro, Senior Unmusical programs from 1927 and 1928, a Stunt Night program from 1927, a letter from McBee’s campus “Little Sister,” a Park Night program from 1929, a Rotary Community Banquet menu from 1932, and text of a speech given by McBee at the Southern Baptist Convention held in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1932.
