The Emma Lehman Collection includes her history writings, lecture notes, poems, correspondences and scrapbooks. The highlight of the collection is her herbarium of North Carolina plants, including the plant discovered and named after her: Monotropsis lehmanii. Emma Augusta Lehman was a distinguished teacher at Salem Female Academy and College for 52 years, 1864-1916. Born August 28, 1841 in Bethania, N.C. Died November 6, 1922 in Bethania, N.C.
