Edith Russell Collection, 1916 – 1937

This scrapbook, created by Edith Russell between 1916 and 1919, documents Russell’s experience as a student at the State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook is made up of dark brown pages that are annotated by Russell in white ink. Contents include ephemera related to Russell’s membership in the Cornelian Society, including a program for the annual co-society debate between the Adelphian and Cornelian societies in 1917. Other materials include Russell’s report cards and school receipts, and still other materials may indicate that she was a scholarship student.
