May Day Pageant Scrapbook

This scrapbook, created by Laura McAllister, documents the 1912 May Day Pageant at the State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). The scrapbook chiefly contains photographs of the 1912 May Day Pageant, as well as other photographs featuring people and campus scenes. May Day Pageant photographs show a parade of horse-drawn floats traveling down College Avenue to Curry Court, a tableaux in Peabody Park, and students dancing around a maypole to music played by a band. Also included are photographs of African Americans who were possibly State Normal employees and their children. Other images depict student life, including botany field trips, the field hockey team, room interiors, the original campus tennis courts, the flagpole, and Wooden Dorm.
